Activities

The project occurs in four distinct and interlinked phases, with gender mainstreaming. Each phase contemplates specific activities described below.

Phase 1: Research and systematization of the state of the art at the national and international levels.

Activity 1. Characterizing and knowing the Portuguese context regarding the adherence to telework during the pandemic, taking into account potential differences between women and men, through the collection and analysis of descriptive statistical data of the national situation;

Activity 2. Literature review in which, from a gender perspective, we try to access scientific knowledge (national and international) about experiences of conciliation of telework with family/cohabitation dynamics;

Activity 3. To conduct a comparative analysis of other countries’ legal systems and/or public policies and the applicability of best practices in the national legal framework.

Phase 2: Empirical study of mixed methodology.

Activities 4 and 5. Study professionals’ experiences with teleworking conciliation in a cohabitational/family context. Application of a survey to a sample of Portuguese professionals teleworking at home; elaboration and submission of a manuscript to an international journal with scientific arbitration in one of the following or similar fields: social sciences, gender studies, labor market, management, organizational behavior, and human resources management, families and housing constellations;

Activities 6 and 7. Study on the organizational perspective of teleworking conciliation in a cohabitational/family context. Development of a case study using semi-structured interviews with one (or more) partner(s), a trade union, and/or a company; elaboration and submission of a manuscript to an international journal with scientific arbitration in one of the following or similar fields: social sciences, gender studies, labor market, management, organizational behavior, and human resources management, families and housing constellations.

Phase 3. Production of Public Policy Proposals.

Activity 8. Development of preliminary proposals of potential new public policies with incidence on legislation and organizational practices for the national adoption and promotion of telework as a tool for the promotion of equality between women and men;

Activity 9. Dynamizing sessions with national and international partner entities in order to return the results and preliminary proposals achieved, and together work towards making these public policy proposals more comprehensive and informed by the work developed in the field and by a comparative analysis of other legal systems and practices.

Phase 4. Production of the White Paper.

Activity 10. Finalization of the White Paper with a critical integration of the results throughout the project.
